Our Community, Our Future has metrics!

Our Community, Our Future, drew 100 people who engaged in the fun and informative activities of the day. Plus, there was food!

The “What’s Your Issue” board drew plenty of attention. There, guests placed stickers next to the issue that bugged them the most. Upon first glance, Government Corruption was way out front. However, upon combining the affordability issues—health care, housing, etc – we found that these issues were just as important as corruption.

The takeaway? People can’t afford to live, but see our so-called leaders filling their pockets shamelessly.

Visitors were provided punch cards directing them to six “punch stations.” Three of these were our tablers, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, Lone Star Circle of Care, and Austin Cares, while a fourth was the Indivisible 1431 Action Table. To get the other two punched, guests were asked to select a couple issues on the Issues Board, and make a new acquaintance.

Completed punch cards were eligible for a drawing to give away two $50 HEB gift cards. The gift cards were generously donated by Indivisible 1431 members.

Dozens of kids were entertained by painting rocks and by several games our volunteers provided.

We gave out about 175 sandwiches to non-volunteers, non-tablers. No one went hungry!

One tabler commented, “There was a nice mix of young families and older folks. One of our metrics of success is how many packets of information about our issues we give away. We gave out 30 that day which was amazing!”
